"Best Friends Forever "
Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! Sherrus Gallery of Fine Art is thrilled to introduce a wonderfully unique and whimsical collection of animal character paintings entitled, “Best Friends Forever,” by Michigan acrylic artist, Sherri R. Mewha. Bright colors, clean lines and simple composition combine to create an exciting new exhibit and sale featuring 26 paintings that present an alphabetical collection of individual characters from “Anthony Antelope” to “Zipporah Zebra.” In addition to the 26 original paintings of each creature, there are several large original paintings depicting various combinations of “best friends” in a group. High quality, affordable reproductions of each painting are available as limited edition giclees in two sizes.
The “Best Friends Forever,” exhibit is a heart-warming collection that will delight children and adults alike. An added extra for the opening exhibit is the debut of the newly published “Best Friends Forever,” coloring book featuring each animal in the collection. Children will love to colorize their own collection of “best friends”! During the Saturday reception, children will have an opportunity to meet real animals from a mini petting zoo and enjoy refreshments, balloons and a free surprise gift.
What began, as a fun lazy-day activity with her grandchildren -- drawing animal characters for one-of-a-kind coloring sheets -- has become a passion for Mewha. In their simplicity, the animals take on attitude and personalities of their own with names that enhance their sassy characteristics. Each “Best Friend Forever,” whether it’s “Bartholomew Bear,” “Ginner Rose Giraffe,” or “Utarra Unicorn,” comes with their personal back story that includes their birthday, parent’s names, their favorite food and song, and other personal preferences. Mewha says, “It’s been great to watch the public react to this new series; inevitably, the works elicit a smile and frequently a laugh from adults – the children simply fall in love with the colorful creatures! We’re very excited to see where this new collection will take us.”
